he lost his child but also lost his girl
she ended things with him, now alone in this world

almost threw in the towel, i felt doomed for a while
not choosing to smile, looked for clues in the how
consumed by the now, the most brutal of trials

i know it’s hard mentally, you’re scarred by the memories
god the father relates to our loss
he saw jesus die in his pain on the cross
and since he rose and he gave us this hope
when suffering comes, we are able to cope
