something happened a long time ago, a long time ago in the summer that left its mark on liz to this day. she was at her aunt betty’s house and was out in the backyard taking a dip. and her aunt betty came out and said it was time for lunch, so she came into the house and sat down on the couch with a little towel underneath her to keep the couch from getting wet. and her aunt betty walked in with this little pink plate with a little brown circle around the edge. and on it was this sandwich, and she gave it to liz. liz put it down. it seemed to be on rye bread; it was lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise – and she hates mayonnaise – she opened it up. and underneath the lettuce, and underneath the tomato, and underneath the mayonnaise, she saw–
