threw on a sweater with jeans, regular type stuff
put the other clothes in a bag, feeling a hype rush
now she’s hopping on the night bus, ’bout to get dropped off
snuck back inside her house, kept the lights knocked off
next morning, heard a knock, of course it was a cop
had to play the role so when she heard the news, she hit the floor in shock
told her “i don’t quite know the right way to word it
but your husband was a victim of mugging, we found him murdered.”
as the cop crossed the kitchen, saw the peg board next to the door
leading to the stairs in the garage, it was odd
said “we found the body, the wallet, car but no keys”
that’s when the officer spotted something and yelled “freeze!”
found a key ring with hubby’s initials, said “ma’am, please
answer how that man managed to drive without these.”
