when i was little, we used to go swimming and fishing in a place near an oak tree on the banks of the “lava” river (“alle” – old german name for this river). grandfather is gone. the oak stands as before, and the children jump into the water from a rope on its branches, as i once did. it is a beautiful time and place that i will never forget
