pulled our strings and guided our passage
we owe you our lives and you make that
apparent. abandoned, we’re left in eternal
purgatory. through you, i was gifted
blood and breath, desire and vices
and a beautiful but troubled son
though you stripped me of my first
husband, you offered me
a luxury shop “infested” by
western fabrics that have
funded my small fortune
though you seemingly d*mned
me to a life of solitude, you
brought me a sailor who
sought a homе beyond
the sea. i should bе grateful
but my veins fissure clenched fists
my throat scorches to a frozen sky
beseeching for answers
where are you? why have you left us?
did your creator abandon you as you have
abandoned us? i sit preserved in a doorway
as if tethered between thresholds forever
