here’s another of my own blues composition. we recorded this in two different versions, one was called s.o.l. blues and the other was gully low blues. and this being our first recording under my banner. we had a million laughs. when we recorded 8 bars solo by one man, the other man was supposed to say, “oh, play it” or something like that. but when it got to my solo and johnny dodds was supposed to say, “oh, blow it, papa dip”. and i waited for that so i could continue and i don’t hear nothing. i look at johnny dodds, his lip is just quivering: ba ba ba ba. he say, “i can’t talk over this thing”. ha ha ha ha. but er, we finally changed it and the record came out alright. gully low blues
