now here’s another number that belongs in every jazz program. just like mama lucy’s creole gumbo belongs in a real new orleans dinner. it was written by my trombonist, kid ory. the world famous muskrat ramble. this number reminds me of the time when we used to play at the lincoln gardens in chicago and doin’ slow nights. the lady that owned the place, she wouldn’t put no heat in the joint. and johnny dodds the clarinet player, he would sit up there with his overcoat on, scarf round his neck and gloves on his hands and play the clarinet just as smooth, ha ha ha ha
