3 a.m. rolls around, and i wake up to the faraway thud of an explosion, too far away to investigate now. the next day, rumors run through town. turns out a truck of some kind had a car bomb taped to the underside of it. jealous ex*boyfriend trying to get revenge, and it’s gone all kinds of sideways. we show up at the scene; turns out it’s the same truck we were messin’ around in the night before. debris is all cleared away, but we can see something burned into the pavement: clear as day, the letters e*d. ed
