this is my favorite lyric because…
of its demonstration of exceptional wordplay. using cheese as a metaphor for money is cliched by now, but here it works as a double entendre (literally he’s feeding her money, but cheese is edible). then he creates another double entendre with “cents” and “sense”, the literal meaning that the way he made sense of her claim that dollars taste bad was to keep feeding money to her, so they turned into cents (a hundredth of a dollar) in her digestive system. gross, but brilliant, and one of the few times i will appreciate p–p metaphors
