after accidentally wandering onto someone’s property, a simple young man is taken hostage for a ransom of a hundred dollars by two cousins
“pig” follows the story of bachana, a young man who, after being rejected from mandatory military service, finds himself lost in a rural georgian village. while wandering, he becomes hungry and eats blackberries from a bush, inadvertently trespassing into a yard. the homeowners, two brothers, accuse him of theft, chain him to a large cooking pot, and demand a ransom of 300 georgian lari (approximately $100) from his family. with no monеy to pay, bachana’s family offers a live pig as ransom. over thе three days bachana spends with his captors, he becomes increasingly reluctant to return home
