i’m not trying to offend anybody here…
i just think this is an interesting subject

now, i ain’t trying to preach
i just think we should question what they teach
mindlessly accepting what the preacher speaks
as a fact without looking at the bigger piece
your faith may be strong but it isn’t proof
as long as we’re alive, we’ll never know the truth
i just think it’s important to understand
to ask why you believe what you believe in
’cause the “better safe than sorry” mentality
isn’t truly believing, that’s the reality
they just agree with what is socially accepted
while agnosticism and atheism get rejected
’cause all atheists are bad people
they worship the devil and represent evil
while all devout christians are perfect human beings
in the small amount of time they aren’t busy practicing
and perfecting ways to hide their hypocrisy
while sneaking out to enjoy the debauchery
i just can’t seem to get over the growing trend
of committing the same sin over and over again
’cause forgiveness is only a prayer away
but is he gonna let it slide every single day?
there’s gotta be a point where it becomes clear
they’re simply trying to take advantage of the situation here
you don’t get into heaven by -ssociation
just because you were part of the congregation
doesn’t suddenly guarantee you salvation
with everlasting life in paradise waiting
just like atheists are suddenly satanic
but at the mention of it our society panics
can’t we all just understand this is complicated?
you can believe anything you want without being negated

i put my faith above me
i know deep down what i believe
and i’m the only one who really needs to know

there’s so many different religions
and on top of that there’s so many different divisions
like are you a baptist or a methodist christian?
honestly, how can you even make a decision?
well, it seems like nine times out of ten
you just take the label that your parents did
without looking deeper to see what the difference is
between catholics, lutherans, and presbyterians
i dunno, i guess i’m just confused
as to why all christians aren’t just jews
’cause wasn’t jesus a jew himself?
and he would know religion better than anyone else
there’s just so much contradiction
jesus was a muslim in islam’s depiction
and they believe in their faith just as strongly as you
but somehow it’s their religion that can’t be true
we try not to think about it for too long
but realistically someone’s gotta be wrong
and i’m no way saying that god doesn’t exist
cause there’s minimal evidence both for and against
i just like to pose the questions to hear thoughts
to prove that we all aren’t just robots
that society has programmed to conform
to the norm by neglecting to inform
’cause it seems like the blind are leading the blind
but maybe that’s exactly how it was designed
like there isn’t supposed to be any reason or rhyme
but that does very little in satisfying the mind
of our inadvertently curious sides
’cause when things don’t make perfect sense questions always arise
but we’ll never know the answers, we have to decide
whether or not critical thought should be applied
