50 cent has been named executive producer on the upcoming starz television series ‘power’, reports variety
the drama centers on a ‘gotham nightclub owner who skirts the line between legitimacy and criminality’. he will co-executive produce the series with 300’s mark canton and end of watch’s randall emmett. they have all previously worked together on freelancers and 2013’s the tomb. additionally, courtney kemp agboh will pen the script
the g-unit rapper-turned-actor will also soon star in the film ‘the frozen ground’ as a 1980s-era pimp
update: the hollywood reporter has stated that starz ordered its first episodes to be produced of ‘power’. the series is expected to air on the premium cable network beginning in 2014
50 cent reacted in a press statement. ‘this is a p-ssion project for me, and i couldn’t be more thrilled to have found a home with starz. i look forward to working with this incredibly talented team on making ‘power’ a hit show.’
