the cheap and glossy, popstar, silver plated celebrity
even those we once considered revolutionary
they sold better lives in the shape of mass produced
commodities to line our walls and shelves
they either sell or they are sold
like a tee*shirt rebellion created to harvest wealth
but even worse to the damage done
to our pockets in the quest for profits
is the damage done to the loneliness of our desires
in the name of stability
stability
so relax and consume the synthetic entertainers
with their fully guaranteed, no quibble money back offers
they’ll take our minds, off of our real problems
with an absolute promise of no solution
because on the dressing room door there’s a silver star
so we place upon a pedestal, and gaze up at in awe
we become, or rather, we strive to become
cheap imitations of people we’d rather be
the new labour aristocracy
this hero worship merely seeks to serve
the interests of those in powerful positions
realise our potential, our own capabilities
and the time will soon arrive
when we’ll consider each other
