the day of separation started like any other
left on monday with my mother
after the split from each other caused by a divorce
i had to live with my father on the weekend against any higher force
as my mom drove away tears came to my eyes
i went up the staircase to my room to cry
and then i heard shouting coming from the driveway
my grandmother and mother talking to the poor excuse of a father
my stepbrother at that time took me to his room and i watched it all go down
first it started with a simple frown
then it turned to coffee cups being thrown on the ground
and all i could do was sit and watch the chaos unfold
i few weeks later of the same ritual of going back and forth my father told me he was going on a business trip
then as hours turned to days and days turned to weeks i started sinking into a wimp
then my stepmother came in my room and said some terrible news
“it wouldn’t matter if you prayed on the church pews
he ain’t coming back so don’t get it confused,”
then my mother came and picked me up like any other weekend and then i forgot about the day of separation

leroy was scared and confused and crying like he was going to d*mnation
my mom’s friend was p*ssed off and started yelling profanities
i guess that’s what happens when you take drugs with frustration
and me being 6 or 7 it was already eating away at my sanity
911 was dialed and i talked to the operator and explained the situation
as my mom was fighting with a psychotic break from an old relation
it all went to garbage so quick it reminds me of a cheetah
and then a little drug paraphernalia later and a social worker came and me and leroy we stripped from our parents like this is a reenactment of pangaea
talking with the social worker like i need some family this a huge amount missin’
living with my brother’s father almost made me forgot about the day of separation
