(a segment of the fight comes alive, as a couple of the company give the coup de grace to one of the toughs.)

(another victorious coup by the company, as another tough is routed. these segments continue until the final one, when…)

(leroy wades into the fight, fists flying, jostled backward against doyle. they wheel, eyes meeting. a moment, and they turn, back to back, each punching a remaining tough off into the wings. the company stands, battered and breathless. satin enters, crossing slowly to leroy and doyle. she takes leroy’s arm, then doyle’s, turns to the audience.)
