but you won’t save the world if you can’t save this f-ckin’ town
now we’re all pushing b-ttons just to find out what they do
’cause if there’s nothing left to figure out, there’s nothing left to do

and our determination can only take us so far
the wind was almost strengthened by the caution left behind
then something in the air, brought out the worst in us
and the conversation took another turn like last night’s rain
when it ended in the gutter and then it all dried up again
so when you see your friend can you please tell her i’m alright
and not like she first thought at least for my own peace of mind
but if growin’ up means letting go or being misconstrued
then maybe she was right and i’ve still got some growin’ up to do
there’s no one there to rescue you this time
but you can call me up and i can sound you out
your problems won’t evaporate with time
but we can talk for hours until it feels alright
but this is not a burn and this is not a test
but look me in the f-ckin’ eye and say this weren’t the best night
that you’ve had in years
so next time that you’re down again
maybe come around and sit and shoot the sh-t and everything else seems like second best
