cynthia and i seem to keep writing songs for shows that don’t happen, that’s one of those things that happens to songwriters, but we wrote this song for a projected musical version of dennis the menace, would you believe? and this song was to be sung by crochety old mr. wilson reminiscing about a time long gone and, um, well the show didn’t happen. but, sometimes a song has a life of its own and this song has been recorded by michael feinstein and karen akers and a few others, and here it is now
