i’ve seem the same symptoms manifested far too many times
to get up, dust myself off and repeat the process
i’m getting tired of treating my life like a contest
with no context, just running in circles
convincing myself i’ll get over this hurdle
telling my mates my head’s just a bit muddled
disguising the fact i could really be in trouble
so i’ve written these words for anyone feeling down
not to say i [?] or offer something profound
just to say it’s sound, you’re not alone, don’t feel ashamed
our psychology is a topic that needs to be reframed
we treat mental illness like it’s a fault in our wiring
‘cause it’s easier to blame the person than the whole society
if anything the feeling that you have of being lost
is a sign of a healthy mind’s empathic response
to this crazy world that we live in
that increasingly resembles a prison
with rising rates of poverty and spiraling inequality
only mad men are well adjusted to this tragedy
so what can we do? conversate, stop pretending
that we value incentives over connection
‘cause not everybody wants to be the boss
but i can think of a more universal human fear than feeling lost
