well! late one night, and for no reason
a thing rose up from the bottom of the berkeley’s creek
t’was very large, and crazy muddy
the birds and things all hid and pretended not to see
“oh what am i?”, he spoke out nervously
a platypus was p-ssing and he knew exactly what he was and so he answered him
“kianpraty aka bunnyip”
and he said no more as he dived into the creek
is everybody lonely? is there no “one and only”?
it’s individuality, true…
at least there’s not another you!
so he called out “what do bunyips look like?”
a wallaby came up to have a drink at berkeley’s creek
and he said “bad. oh they look horrible
with dumb webbed feet, and covered in yuck-feathers”
“fur and tails” an emu chimed in now
“handsome tails?” the kianpraty asked but the big old emu just shook her head
“ugly tails. and the fur is even worse!”
and she took off like lightning into the bush
oh! what a pity to not be very pretty
with feelings hurted easily too…
at least there’s no one quite like you!
he met a man – he was a human man
he asked him “sir, what do bunyips look like?”
“they don’t exist. they look like nothing”
the bunyip sighed and started to disappear
well! late one night, again, no reason
another muddy weird peculiar thing rose up from the bottom of a billabong
“oh what am i?” the creature called out
“you’re a bunyip! yes! and you’re just like me!”
the ending to the story is… wow! it’s really showed me
i’ve got to change my point of view
there could be one more just like you!
